Pre-CNY Dinner @ Mandarin Oriental

Had a pre-CNY gathering dinner with the brother and the usual bunch. We had it at Lai Poh Heen, a halal Cantonese cuisine restaurant which is in the infamous Mandarin Oriental Hotel, located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Besides fine dinings, they also have a chocolate lounge where you can simply find it near the lobby area. Heard that their macarons are worth the try.

Back to the topic, we had a Chinese 9 Course Meal. No doubt, it was a scrumptious dinner. Let me introduce you  the dishes we had.

Our menu of the night.

First Meal: Yee Sang (Tradisional CNY Dish ; it's a must for every reunion dinner. )

Second Meal: kindly refer to the menu. :p

So sorry, I didn't manage to take a picture for the third meal as everyone were too hungry!
Third Meal: Steamed Red Snapper Fish

Fourth Meal: Peking Duck (We exchanged chicken to duck instead.)

Fifth Meal: Sea Prawns! Kindly refer to the menu.

Sixth Meal: "Beh Ge" (in hokkien) ; Rice Cake.

As for the seveneth meal, I forgot to take a picture of it, again.. I'm sorry guys!

Seventh Meal: Fortune Pouch. Kindly refer to the menu for a detailed description. :p

Last but not least, the Eighth Meal. Nothing beats having something sweet to end the meal with.

Oh and this complimentary durian pancake. I'm not a fan of durian hence I didn't eat it. But everyone gave a really good feedback after having this and they want more. So what do you think? Haha.

That's all we had for that night, it was really filling! Nevertheless, everyone were satisfied with the food and also their  services. Special thanks to Assistant Manager Jason for a VIP set up for us, we really did enjoy our night!

I would recommend family and friends to have a CNY reunion dinner here. They have private rooms as well. Make sure you make a reservation a few days before you dine, it's always full house.

Here are the 2 other options for the CNY Set Menu:

The GOOD BATCH

Hey guys, I'm back! I've been quite busy lately with college and stuffs. First week of college wasn't that bad though. Anyways, I've discovered a cozy and chilling place recently. They are quite similar to Antipodean, Plan B those kind of atmosphere. Cue to my title post ; The GOOD BATCH. It's located at Damansara Utama, Uptown.

I love how they decorate their interior. It's a really nice place to catch up with your friends. I've been here twice. The first visit, I didn't order anything but just plain water as we were rushing to another venue. On the second visit which is today, I ordered Caffe Mocha. It's good, I would recommend this for mocha fans.

On the other hand, my friend ordered a Hot Chocolate and Parisienne which is a sunny side up on French toast. It's a thumbs up, must try!

As for the price, I think it's reasonable. Well, there's a saying "you pay for what you get". So yeah, that explains it all. Haha.

PLOY

Hey hey peeps, happy new year! This would be my first post of 2014. Hope all of you had a great start of 2014 & will be better year. Not blogging about my new year's eve post because didn't go anywhere special. I spent it at one of our friend's uncle house at DPC. Counting down together with the boyf and the bunch. We didn't go to Waterfront as it was super packed and limited parking space. Nevertheless, I had a great new year's eve although it was a simple celebration but celebrating it with the right people at the right pace it's all that matters!

Anyways, I recently discovered a new restaurant to dine in. It's called PLOY, located at Clearwater, Damansara Heights. It's a Thai fusion concept restaurant. They serve Japanese & Western cuisine combined with Thai recipe.

I must say it's a really nice place for families, friends and even couples to dine in. A much relaxing with simple decos and a warm atmosphere. Celebrated my brother's birthday with le familia here, no doubt it was a good choice. First, it's not crowded. Second, it's not noisy like other places with people talking loudly nor music too loud. Third, the foods they served were delicious.

I ordered "John Dory", which is (obviously) a fish. Haha. I love the portion, it's not too big and not too small, just nice for me. The taste is really unique, it served with mango salsa. I would recommend this for people who's a fan of fish. Thumbs up!

After the main, I ordered their popular nitrogen ice-cream, vanilla flavored. Oh my, the texture of the icecream was super duper smooth. It's definitely worth it & a must try!

After we digest from our mains and desserts. Here comes the blowing candles and singing birthday song. The service was really good, the waiters were very alert and knew what we need before we even ask them. They prepare the cake and brought it out while singing the birthday song.

Tadaaa, someone's turning 25 already!
( cake's from Free Mori )

Happy Birthday, Hensemmm brother!
Love you loads! x
